When you do a “bio” at the age of 70+, where to begin? As mentioned before, I was trained at The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) in San Rafael, California. I received my Certification in 1998, with the designation CPCC (Certified Professional Co-Active Coach)and began my coaching practice then. I wrote and taught a workshop called “Living on Purpose: Discovering Life Purpose in Mid-Life” for several years after that (when I was still in “mid-life”!)
Although I began coaching and facilitating workshops in 1998, I also had a long career in social services and served as the director of Employment Services at West County Community Services in Sebastopol, CA for 13 years, a community non-profit organization. My work with staff and other agencies allowed me to use my coaching skills and I developed a passion for “collaborative management” where the team is a unit, with each person contributing their unique part for the success of the whole. No one was more important than anyone else, and everyone was valued for their contribution. This passion for seeing the value and unique contribution of each person as an important “cell” in the “body of the organization/community/family/world” has become embedded in my personal philosophy and work.
I lived and worked in Northern California for 46 years and yes, I was a “hippie” back in the day! A committed “seeker”, I tried on many different spiritual and philosophical coats over the years, and all of those experiences helped contribute to my spiritual philosophy and world view. For all of that seeking and bumping around, I am now very grateful!
After I retired and our grandchildren (and their parents) moved out of state, my husband and I decided to relocate to the Southwest and chose Tucson in 2014. Although I do miss the beautiful Pacific Ocean, I have become a passionate “desert” person in love with the spaciousness, serenity, and beauty of the Sonoran desert. We live close to the Catalina Mountains and I truly believe I could not live happily away from them!
My favorite things to do usually involve the outdoors: gardening (I am a Master Gardener), hiking, watching the sunset on the Catalinas. I am blessed with a loving husband, one son, two stepdaughters and two beautiful granddaughters.
