Although we usually think of “aging” only in regard to older people, we are all aging from the moment we are born. We re-create and design our lives again and again on a daily basis, although it is frequently unconscious or on autopilot.
My goal, as a Coach, is to join with you in an alliance using the particular framework of aging as art.
What are some qualities of “art”?
- It is unique to the individual.
- It reflects the individual’s values.
- It reflects the individual’s inner world.
- It is focused, requiring the artist to be.
- It comes from deep inside us, it is intuitive and authentic.
- It is a powerful statement of what we feel at a particular moment in time.
What kind of art do you want to create?
Some days, that art may be all grays and dim light; other days, it is full of light. Still again, bright, vibrant and colorful.
Some days you may throw the paint on the canvas in anger or frustration; or plunge your hands into the colors smearing the paint on the canvas with the joy and abandon of a child.
It’s all good – it’s all art and life – it’s all valuable when you are PRESENT to what you are about.
Aging as Art asks you to (be)
PRESENT. Aware of where you are and who you are in this moment.
PATIENT. It asks for patience and the allowing of ideas to arise, the “muse” to make itself known.
FAMILIAR WITH YOUR VALUES, what is of utmost importance to you.
CURIOUS and eager to learn more and more about what feeds you: body, mind, spirit.
VALUE and respect the gifts you have been given in life and your unique expression of them.
It asks that you always question: Why am I choosing this and not that?
